About us
42 is a small, unreasonably talented team that builds digital products. We started because the large agencies seemed to be mostly about being large, and only incidentally about being good. We decided to try the other way around.
Who we are
Mathematicians who learned to design. Designers who learned to code. Everyone graduated from Southern Federal University's department of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science, which means we can argue about type systems and typefaces with equal conviction. Our backgrounds span applied math, financial modeling, machine learning, and computer vision — skills that turn out to be surprisingly useful when someone asks you to build something that hasn't existed before.
How we work
We design something, then build it, then discover it was wrong, then fix it, then ship it. This process is called "iterating" and the alternative — designing something perfectly the first time — has been attempted by many teams throughout history, none of them successfully. We move fast because the only thing worse than shipping too early is shipping too late.
